Surgical Services

Swan Hill District Health has two fully equipped operating rooms, post anaesthetic care and a central sterilising supply department (CSSD).  The Theatre suite carries out approximately 2500 procedures per year.

Visiting specialists from Mildura and Melbourne provide services on a regular basis.  Service provision includes General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Obstetric and Gynaecology, Ear Nose and Throat,  Urology, Dental and facio-maxillary.

Operating sessions are scheduled Monday to Friday with on call staff being available for after hours emergency work.   A surgical pre-admissions service is available three days a week.  A surgical resident visits from St Vincents Hospital  on a three monthly rotation system.

The CSSD process reusable sterile stock not only throughout the hospital, but also to the Swan Hill Medical Group, Alcheringa, Balranald, Manangatang and Sea Lake Hospitals.
